Cross-Cultural Collaboration at City College of NY

Chinese and Spanish-language poets collaborated for a poetry performance and dialogue at The International Multilingual Creative Writing Conference held November 15, at The City College of New York. The poets did readings of their poems in their original language and then were able to hear the poem translated and read in Chinese, Spanish, Italian and English.

An additional event, had the poets performing at The Saphira and Ventura Gallery in Manhattan with help from Mar Russo, director of The New York Poetry Press. Brigidina Gentile is a poet, translator and anthropologist from Italy. She is the author of the book ‘COYOLXAUHQUI’ , as well as a contributor to the multi-lingual poetry book project ‘babel’.
Victoria Zhang is a poet, translator and founder of KunLun Press, She translated two of Brigidina’s poems, from Italian into Chinese. Victoria then read the two poems in Chinese. After the reading, Brigidina Gentile described her experience: “I had to hold back my tears when Victoria Zhang read my poems in Chinese. Her reading was wonderful, she danced with body and words, she is an artist of the word, of sound, and of beauty!”
此外，在紐約詩歌出版社社長Mar Russo的幫助下，詩人們還在曼哈頓的薩菲拉和文圖拉畫廊進行了表演。Brigidina Gentile是一位來自意大利的詩人、翻譯家和人類學家。她是《COYOLXAUHQUI》一書的作者，也是多語言詩集項目 「babel 」的撰稿人。
